Man arrested for murder at Walsall house party

Detectives investigating the murder of a student in Walsall just over two years ago have arrested a man.

Rezwan Ali, aged 19, was found collapsed at a house in Willows Road at around 1.45am on 14 January 2018.

Sadly, Rezwan had suffered a knife wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old man, from West Bromwich, has been re-arrested on suspicion of his murder this morning, (23 January) and is currently in custody.

Five others who were also arrested on suspicion of murder were released pending further investigation.

Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from the Homicide team, said: “This is a complex investigation but we’re committed to getting answers for Rezwan’s family.

“The arrest is a positive step forward in our investigation which continues as we strive to bring those responsible to justice.

“I continue to appeal to anyone with any information, who hasn’t yet spoken to us for whatever reason, to get in touch.

“Rezwan’s death was a tragic and senseless loss of

life and my thoughts remain with those close to him."

Anyone with information, or anyone who was at the party in Willows Road, is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
