A man who burgled an elderly vulnerable woman in #Walsall after posing as a plumber has been jailed

Marc Barker, aged 39 from Lewis Close, Willenhall, tricked his way into the home of a Willenhall pensioner aged 83, on 3 November last year.

We were called by the woman’s daughter who had gone to visit her mother. She noticed her front door was open and then saw a man walk out of the house and past her car.

She shouted after him asking what he’d been doing and Barker replied saying he was asking about cleaning windows. He then quickly walked off.

She went inside to see her mother who told her that Barker had wanted £120 to unblock her drain.

It was soon discovered that Barker had been in the woman’s bedroom and gone through drawers in a dressing unit. Her purse had also been stolen.

Officers conducted a search of Barker’s house and recovered a shirt identical to the one described and picked up on nearby CCTV.

He was arrested and charged with burglary. He was sentenced to 27 months in prison after pleading guilty to burglary at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday (7 May).
