A Sea of Rainbow this Bank Holiday - Walsall Pride is back

Taking its place in Walsall Town Centre for its 8th year on Saturday 24th August is Walsall Pride with organiser’s promising the biggest event to date with a Main Stage, Cabaret Stage, Community Stage and pride stalls, Children’s fair rides, Sexual health services from the NHS, as well as local groups such as the Samaritans and local LGBT networks offering information and advice.
Gallery Square hosts The main event, featuring The Saddlers Centre Main Stage, right in the heart of Walsall. Acts confirmed to appear include Mutya Buena from Sugababes, Livin Joy, Nikki Belle, as well as performances from Siobhan Gallagher, Rob King from Britain’s got talent, Kalon Rae from The Voice and many more throughout the day from 11am till 6pm.
One of the Event Organisers Matthew Higgins said “Walsall Pride continues to grow every year and is now in its 8th year, it creates a space for the town to come together and celebrate diversity. This year is set to be the biggest yet with the introduction of a third stage dedicated to local performers and talent. We also celebrate 50 years since the Stonewall riots and really wanted to create an inclusive and Free event for everyone in this special year. Of course this is only possible with the support of our sponsors and partners, The Saddlers shopping Centre, Walsall Council, Asda, Coop, Homeserve, Heart Events, WHG, Gaydar, The New Art Gallery and Fox and Squirrel Photography”
Park Street will see the introduction of our Community Stage playing host to Local and regional talent along with Tribute Acts
The Red Lion on Park Street will host the events Cabaret Stage playing host to some of the midlands favourite drag artistes throughout the day.
The Lion bar & Club in Birchills will be hosting a full line up of entertainment all weekend with Saturday evening seeing the official after party through til 6am
The event will also feature pride stalls, and community stalls in Gallery Square and on Park Street and inside the new art gallery with stands from the likes of Walsall Libraries the Samaritans, Walsall NSH Sexual Health Team, Local LGBT groups and more. There will also be arts & craft sessions for children being held inside The New Art Gallery.
Event Organiser Zac Humpage Said, “This year’s event will be bigger and better with something for everyone throughout the day and will bring much needed visitors to the town and I hope that the locals get behind the event and make 2019 a year to remember whilst celebrating 50 years since stonewall”
