Man charged with attempted murder after Walsall barber shop shooting


Detectives investigating a shooting at a Walsall barbers shop have charged a teenager with attempted murder.


Uzair Shahid, from Lichfield Road, Walsall, has been remanded into prison after appearing before the town's magistrates court today (26 June).


The 19-year-old was arrested after a man suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach in Wolverhampton Road, Birchills, on 19 May.


The 23-year-old victim was treated for serious but not life threatening injuries.


Detective Inspector Chris Fox, from force CID, said: "This is a significant step forward in our investigation but we still need to hear from anyone who may have information which can assist our enquiries."

Shahid is due to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on 25 July.


A 17-year-old was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and bailed.
