Mum Shares Photos Of How She Transformed Her Kitchen For £38

Updated: May 18, 2019

A mum has shared the secret of how she completely revamped and regenerated her kitchen for just less than £40.

Andrea Short told people on the 'Extreme Couponing and Bargains' Facebook group how she managed to turn her kitchen around for about £38 after purchasing a load of stuff on eBay.

On top of that, she also shared some before and after photos to prove how dramatic the transformation was.

Before her efforts, her kitchen wasn't too bad, to be honest. It just looks a bit dated and unremarkable. Afterwards, it has had a lovely lick of paint and all the fittings and handles have been replaced and updated.

It's pretty impressive that she managed to do all this for less than £40. More than a quarter of her budget was spent on primer paint from B&Q that cost £12. She bought another pot of paint for £18, then picked up all of the fittings at £7.99 for 20 of them on eBay.

Thrifty as anything, that.

Alongside the photographs, she wrote: "Here is my before and after pictures of my kitchen.

"Both paint and primer was from B&Q. It does say the paint is self-priming, however I used a primer and one coat of paint. And new handles bought from eBay.

"Took me 2 days. First day primer and left to dry overnight, second day applied the colour and new handles. I also painted the insides of the cupboards."

Well, there you have it. Sounds pretty easy, doesn't it?

Since she shared the photos in the group Andrea's post has been liked more than 4,000 times and members of the group have also more than 1,000 comments, most of which are praising her work as well as her thriftiness.

here are obviously some people criticising her work - this is the internet, after all - but most of the comments are positive, and some are asking her for more details about how to do these things themselves.

One commenter said: "Looks lovely, you've done a good job."

Another added: "That's really lovely it throws out the colour of the tiles and counter top."

A third said: "Looks so much better!"

There you have it then, folks. It doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg to breathe a bit of new life into your house.

Sometimes all you need is a bit of extra time to spend on eBay seeking out a bargain and a local shop to buy paint from.
